Sauna membership vs gym membership: what you actually get.

Compare facilities, access and cost so you can decide which membership fits the part of your week you want to make time for.

A gym membership usually centres on training facilities. A sauna club membership centres on access to heat, cold and shared spaces. Compare the actual inclusions; neither label guarantees the same facilities at every venue.

What you are paying for.

Saunday is planning social sauna, infrared sauna and ice bath spaces. It is not a gym and does not replace access to exercise equipment or classes.

Some gyms already include sauna or recovery facilities. Check whether those rooms suit you, whether they cost extra and whether they are available when you train. A separate club only adds value if you want and can use what it offers.

Compare the details, not just the weekly price.

  • Which rooms and services are included?
  • Are there peak/off-peak restrictions or extra session charges?
  • What are the booking limits and opening hours?
  • Are towels and guest passes included?
  • What is the total cost over the minimum term, and how does cancellation work?

First-release Narrabeen founding rates are Reset $19.95, Routine $25.95, Ritual $45.95 per week, billed fortnightly. The rate is held for the first 12 months from opening.

Saunday’s founding offer is billed fortnightly. Check the full Narrabeen offer for the current inclusions and the terms still to be confirmed.

Training outcomes are a separate question.

Roberts and colleagues’ resistance-training study found that regular cold-water immersion immediately after resistance exercise reduced some training adaptations under the conditions tested. A recovery label does not guarantee a better training result.

Choosing a sauna club can be about the space and time you want to spend there. It does not require a medical claim. If you need advice on injury, training recovery or a health condition, speak with an appropriately qualified professional.

What is available now?

Saunday’s clubs are still being built. Narrabeen is planned first, followed by Darlinghurst. Joining the Narrabeen waitlist is free and does not buy or reserve a membership.

Be one of the first on the bench.

See Narrabeen’s published founding rates and planned inclusions, then join the free waitlist if the club suits your routine. No payment is taken and no membership is reserved. Darlinghurst’s membership offer is still to be announced.
